Update ... after 5 months

So it's been a while since my last post (5 months) and there have been a lot of milestones since then.

Chelsi started eating solids (well, if you can call baby food and rice cereal solids). She would get really cranky and upset every time she would see me eating, like she was thinking "hey, where's mine??" So I made up some rice cereal and she downed the stuff like it was her last meal. She is a really good eater and does great with both fruits and veggies (her favorite is squash). She also just got her third tooth the other day! Bring on the steak!!

Josh's mom was able to come out for a visit. She has definitely enjoyed spending time with Chelsi and I think Chelsi has enjoyed having grandma around. We made a trip to the San Diego Zoo and it was pretty fun - although Chelsi didn't look at a single animal while we were there. I guess you can't expect too much from a 6 month old, right?

Chelsi experienced her first Halloween. We made a little trip to the pumpkin patch and she even got her very own "Chelsi-sized" pumpkin that we carved for her. She really enjoyed being in her pumpkin outfit but even more than that she enjoyed being in a pumpkin!

Chelsi is really making up for being a little bit of a pill in her early days. She has been a little angel lately. She already has a few flights under her belt and has been amazing about 90% of the time. She's sleeping through the night and for the most part can fall asleep on her own. She loves to play with her toys, although sometimes she needs mom to sit and play with her. And she absolutely LOVES her Baby Einstein video (and to be completely honest, I get a little into it as well).

As you can see in these photos she is now sitting up on her own, she laughs and smiles for the camera, she eats a TON now and likes to feed herself her Cheerios and "puff treats" - although she doesn't quite get the concept of "one at a time" so that can get a little scary. At her 6 month appointment she weighed 15 lbs 4 oz and was 26 in tall. She is now 7 1/2 months old and feels like she weighs a whole lot more! But we are having a whole lot of fun with her! We think we'll keep her around for a while! =)

To sleep, or not to sleep ...

Well, in the beginning there was no sleep ... at least during the day. Chelsi for the most part has always been a pretty good sleeper at night. But I think she is finally learning how to sleep during the day, although she still can't fall asleep on her own. It's like she's so tired and doesn't quite get that if she closes her eyes she will feel better. But she will sleep on her own for more than 15 minutes now. And as soon as I post this she will wake up and not sleep for 2 days!

She is also actually getting ok with not being held all the time - and my arms are very grateful for that. Although I don't mind toning my arms, it's nice to be able to, I don't know, take a shower and get dressed in the morning (or afternoon, whatever time she lets me).

So we went to Toys R Us the other day on the pretext of Daddy buying Chelsi a toy - since she hasn't gotten a new toy in about a month or so. So I'm thinking like a stuffed animal or bath time toys .... we came home with a little baby gym thing (you know what I'm talking about? The thing you stick your kid under and they are so scared of all the toys dangling off of them that they are quiet?) a hat, sunglasses that strap onto their head, and a pool - yes, a pool. Just a little kiddie plastic one, but a pool nonetheless. I was really excited about the pool and it's mostly for me, cuz let's face it, Chelsi can't swim. But Mommy can take her out and sit in the pool with her on a nice sunny SoCal day! Hee hee hee! And Chelsi really needs to work on her tan so it's a plus for all of us! =)

This is our new baby girl - Chelsi Bella. Well, I guess she is 2 months old now, so she's not that new. These were pictures taken while at the hospital, so she is new in these photos. She was born on March 17th - our little St. Patty's day baby!
